this is a 2004 EB3 approval! This is the first one I am seeing from 2004. So looks like they have really cleaned the pipes here, and things should be better going forward.
The nicest thing of this whole fiasco is that they seem to have ignored country-limits and approved as many as possible. Last year they did only 9.8K EB Indians (teh final count was 17k, but that was due to ScheduleA). THis year (2007) if they have gotten 20-30K India applications out, the dates should move better in the future.
Eagerly awaiting 2 USCIS stats:
1. per-country per-category EB approvals in 2007
2. number of 485 applications received by August 17th

Why should we pay, SS Tax and Medicare if we are temporary workers. Let them START collecting once I-485 is applied.

My wife works in a company where a good number of IT folks are staffed by INFY. The poor quality of work made the company think about not extending INFY's contract. But then it came out in the open that there was no documentation on how the applications were built, etc. INFY got wind of this, and now they have positioned themselves in the organization where without them, this company's IT would collapse.
There are many such stories of outsourcing firms that are holding client companies hostage. Though I do not agree with the bill, I think the bill brings back some ethics into play. Especially the L1 loophole.
This is more of the client company's fault than Infys. It is upto the client to demand documentation for all the stuff Infy does. Infy will happily do that.
I used to work for an Indian IT firm in India in 1998 where our client was a major corporation here. The client used to demand so much documentation and follow stringent procedures that we were spending most of our time in documenting and following the procedures than doing the real work. I am in for this. This is not so expensive than paying the lobbyist. The objective is to catch media's attention and have our sentiments be publicized in major newspapers and tv news.
This is a novel idea and more cost effective than paying major newspaper to publish our sentiments. They will come to IV for interviews just like in the past during the flower campaign.

I am still not sure, if its considered 8+2=10 months to complete the PERM labor or we should just consider 2 months from start. Every application should go through the first part of it ( in this case 8 months). Right?

ICICI is best if you have short term trip and wants to finish paper work quick. Even you can do it while sitting here , Only thing you need to send a Power of attorney from here through Embassy.
If you have long term trip and somebody known within SBI/LIC. Then their terms and conditions are too good. No Pre-payment Penalty.
There are less paper work involved if you buy it from Builder or First sale. You should be careful while buying second sale or most of the people ask Black money first , even before starting the bank paper work.

Just as you took initiative to post this message...Start a Poll of who are willing to Join you with this initiative--Of Donating to IV,with this one-point agenda.
Once you have 5-10 people behind you and you look serious enough, IV can guide you with your initiative. As you might know already that there are no full-time employees in IV to pickup requests.
I totally understand that you would want to "part" with money only with some kind of promise. That's totally normal. But, just to get your 'Donation', IV or any member will/can not make any false promises.
After I-140 approval if we are allowed to file 485 that will give us big relief, Willing to contribute big time if IV can make this part of its agenda

As far as i know, name checks are cleared whithin a few months of RD or few months after 1st Fingerprint. This would just give you some peace of mind...

I think we will see a renewed activity on IV forums in 2009. I still believe visa recapture bill like HR5882 has a good chance of getting passed. It may not get passed in this congress considering how few working days are left and presidential elections in November. But in 2009 the bill should gain new momentum with new congress and new president in office.
Also, by that time EB2 dates will be again retrogressed and those impatiently waiting for their approvals today will be back to support new action items. Please don't take this as spiteful wish against EB2, I'm EB2 myself! Just that I don't think everyone who is current now will get their GC before October 2008. For once I would be overjoyed if I'm wrong on this one :)
True, once the people realize that they are close to GC they forget all tasks and move on to the other forums (R2I or USC or whatever) there are very few who actually stay on and help add this to the fact that most of the EB3-I's got fed up with the nonsense going on (most were only looking for a sounding board to voice their dismay, instead they were reminded of the caste system). So EB2's stop working because their PD is current and EBs stop because there is little hope/chance/help. We can dissect the VB as much as we want, the fact of the matter is that EB3 as a whole and EB3 (india &China) in particular are screwed big time. There is hope in the Logfren bills but the congress seems to have other 'important' issues to discuss.
We should take the campaign to a new level move from individuals to involving groups and compaines. They have more money and power to make things move. EB3 & EB2 discussions will go on for ever, we can either decide to wallow in our sorrow or do something. Lets identify groups who can help us and write to them. Each EB should talk to his/her HR and ask them to write a letter to their congressman/Senator it will have a bigger impact.

This is what I think America loses due to delay in green card process. I can say this from my own experience. People with advanced degrees in Science and Technology have to keep doing same job to maintain status for 8 - 10 years since changing job / company reset's their GC process. When a guy comes to US for education the average age is around 23 - 24 years. MS completed by 25. Most guys at that time have burning desire to do something new and innovative (either in job or starting own business). But the most fortune 100 companies do not sponsor H1B or GC (Example Raytheon, Toyota, Lexmark .... based on my personal experience as electrical engineer) so you end up compromising with career to maintain status and work for companies that sponsor H1B ( future career prospects take a backseat). Then after 8 - 10 years when you get GC you already are married and possibly kids to look after you are already burnt out and want to keep working in the same desk/ clerical job that you have been doing for so many years. So its a lose lose situation to all neither government gains from the GC (by which they hope to make US a more innovative place) nor the immigrants since by then all they can think is a full time job, home and 401K.

I am not giving any benefit of doubt rather expressing my view. No doubt this bill is ringing alarm bells , no matter whether its staffer etc its senators who are bringing on to it , i agree , but the key thing as carefully drafted poison is this draft it cant be achieved by senators in days of negotiations they claim, its been definately on these tables for even months before its publicised. By saying this , i am very much surprised when i went through all the text of it , its shameful on all these ppl for trying to sink ppl like us for vote bank politics. Atleast i thought they would do some good but its becoming more harm day by day.
