With USCIS filing fees spewing higher than the BP oil spill, you'd think the President and Congress would be holding press conferences to propose a legislative fix. But, alas, immigrants cannot vote, so who cares? Perhaps their U.S. citizen spouses, parents, sons and daughters, siblings and employers who have sponsored them for green cards and temporary working visas. I'm in the 8th year of H1-B, BEC priority date 04/2001, just got a notice that the case was closed ?? and the lawyer is working to reopen the case.
I have now a very good opportunity to work for another company, huge pay and benefits, a lot of pressure from this company to work for them.
Pls who can answer 2 small questions:
1. Do I have a chance to work for this company?
2. It makes a difference if I'm currently in NJ and this new company is in Utah - thinking that maybe they are not so many applicants in that state? Just for the LC processing speed?

Any I-485 approvals from Nebraska.. for EB3-I in the month of Jan..
My finger printing was done in Sep-2007 .....took an Infopass and opened a SR .The IO officer @ infopass said that the finger printing has to be initiated from Nabraska...any body on the same boat

Hi
I filed green card with my old emp. in 2002, i applied for i485 July/07 and in APR/08 i change my job to similar profession, now i work and live in MD, and my interview for status adj is sch in NJ, should i notify and change address to MD since i live , work and my current emp. in MD. Please help....

I have applied for I-140 thro Substitute in March 2006(15 months ago) and I got a query on my education and company financial status in August 06 and attorney replied back to query in the month of October 2006.
When I check my status online shows as "we received your application on October 20th 2006 and in process".
Last month there was an updated date on 05/25/07 on my case and when i checked with employer, he says we have not yet received any information from USCIS to attorney.
Now the attorney says, we will be Re-filing my case, as one case got denial from my company (Not mine itseems). So that we will get new Receipt Number as I have only 8 Months left on my H1 and we can apply for 1 year extension meanwhile before 6 months of H1 expiry.
Is it a good idea to re-file I-140 from the same Service Center(NSC)?
or Can I apply in PERM now as I have only 8 months on my H1.
Pl. suggest.

One of my friend's I-485 with priority date of Jan 2006 got approved yesterday. They have posted the documents to USCIS for his wife early this month(as per his attorney) to link to his I-485, but the check was not cashed yet and receipt notice was not issued for his wife.
Will there be any issue in this regard? What will be the options for him just in case if the attorney has not sent the documents to USCIS for his wife or the documents get rejected for some reason? Any help/advice in this regard is really appreciated. Thanks.

Is it possible for a resident of Pune to apply for a tourist visa at the Hyderabad consulate? The Mumbai consulate doesn't seem to have any openings online, so not sure how to make an appt with the Mumbai consulate..

I had applied on July 19th to Nebraska. My I-140 was approved from TX.
Today I received transfer notice WAC...., mentioning that they have transferred my case to TX Service center.
The receipt date is of Sep 14th, Notice date of Sep 17th'2007.
Does it mean I lost the original filing receipt date of July 20th'2007.

Hello,
I have few questions and seeking your advise on it. Currently I have a H1B and EAD with EB3 category GC application.
1. I am working on H1B for "X" company and they have filed extension for it. Now, I got an offer from "Y" company and they are willing to transfer my H1B.
Is there any problem for H1B transfer to the Y company while it is filed for extension from my current employer?
2. The new company "Y" is also going to file my new GC labor and I-140 as job has little different and senior role but similar to what I had in my previous H1B and GC labor in EB2 category.
Now, can my current employer "X" company remove I-140 or create any kind of problem for my immigration status, specially with GC?
Any information, you can provide will be really helpful.

Hi there,
I am currently 29 yrs old. I have had my green card for 9 years now. However, I was arrest when i was in college at the age of 20, was convicted of a misdemeanor account of drug possession. Youth and stupidity some times does go hand in hand. :mad:
My question is this, should i apply for citizenship next year, GC expiring 2010. Or should I just extend GC. I have stay out of trouble ever since, not even a speeding ticket. I have turned my life around and currently a home owner. :rolleyes:
Does anyone know any case of a successful naturalization of a drug case that was none marijuana related? Any advice is greatly appreciated... thanks in advance!!;)

I am on my 7th year of H-1B (not stamped) and H-1B is due to expire in 2011. I am with the same employer since beginning of H-1B. My AOS is pending and have received AP and EAD.
I am planning to visit Canada next month and want to enter USA with the help of AP. My question is Can I continue my salary using H-1B with the same employer? I read somewhere that I can use my H-1B for salary processing in such circumstances provided I am working for same employer.
I am on my 7th year of H-1B (not stamped) and H-1B is due to expire in 2011. I am with the same employer since beginning of H-1B. My AOS is pending and have received AP and EAD.

It is possible to approve I-485 if I-140 is approvable but is not approved. One of my friends got his GC this way.
